Musical Theater

Musical Theater is a form of theater, combining songs, spoken dialogue, and dance. The emotional content of a piece, as well as the story itself, is communicated as an integrated whole.

The musical theater style is often referred to as Broadway or Musicals.

A Step Above Dance & Music Academy offers this class to students who wish to work on a musical-based training. Technique is not focused upon but performance is. All of our musical theater classes are invited to perform in our annual Spring Performance.

Musical Theater is a 45-minute class that is offered to students 10+ years old. Each year the teacher will focus on 4-6 musicals as well as doing acting exercises. Vocals are not emphasized in this class so we recommend taking voice lessons if you are interested in this area.
